Flutey had to be helped from the field in the first half

Wasps trio Riki Flutey, Simon Shaw and Joe Simpson all face a race to be fit for England's Test against New Zealand on 6 November after suffering injuries.

Centre Flutey is the biggest doubt for the Twickenham game after he picked up a calf injury during Wasps' 37-10 defeat by Northampton on Sunday.

"He'll be assessed by England [on Sunday]. Hopefully he won't be out for too long," said Wasps coach Tony Hanks.

Shaw missed the game with a calf injury while Simpson has a shoulder problem.

"Simon will also be looked at by England," Hanks added.

"He had a calf strain on Friday. It was innocuous but he wasn't fit to play. Hopefully it's not long-term.

"Joe has a sore shoulder. He's being looked at. It was late in the game but whether or not he could carry on we were going to take him off."

Simpson is in the second-string Saxons squad after missing the summer tour with injury but Flutey was strongly in contention to be selected at inside centre by England manager Martin Johnson.

However, the 30-year-old had to be helped from the field during the first half of the match at Adams Park and Hanks confirmed: "Riki's pretty sore at the moment. It's an injury to the calf, quite high.

"These things can take a day or two before you learn how bad they are, but he was definitely pretty sore."
