Tom Varndell and Dan Ward-Smith have both signed two-year extensions to their London Wasps contracts.

Winger Varndell, 24, and second row Ward-Smith, 32, both joined the club at the beginning of last season and went on to make 29 appearances each.

Director of Rugby Tony Hanks said: "We are really pleased to secure the services of these two quality players.

"Both Tom and Dan have bought into the Wasps way and established themselves as key members of the squad."

The pair join nine other players in signing new deals this season, with the likes of Tom Rees, Christian Wade, Joe Ward and Joe Worsley all committing their futures to the Adams Park club.

"Retention of key members is vital and we are excited about the squad we are building short and long term," Hanks added.

Varndell has already scored two tries in the current campaign while versatile Ward-Smith has secured a place in the 2010-11 England Saxons side.
