Danny Cipriani said he was frustrated to have lost on his return to action as Wasps lost 27-23 to Bath but otherwise delighted with his first game back.
The England fly-half returned to action six weeks ahead of schedule after a serious ankle injury in May.
"I was very happy to get through the match but disappointed we lost," said the 20-year-old Cipriani.
"I was a bit rusty and made some mistakes, which I know I can eradicate after I've looked at the analysis."
Cipriani kicked 11 points before being taken off after 51 minutes as the defending champions lost their fourth Premiership game of the season.
"The warm-up went well and I got into the match and didn't feel the ankle at all, so I was just focusing on the game and not thinking about it," he said.
"I thought my goal-kicking was good and I felt a bit more confident with my defence."
There was controversy as referee Sean Davey chalked off a Cipriani penalty despite both touch judges raising their flags to signal the kick was good.
Cipriaini insisted: "It was inside the right post. I saw two touch-judges give it and ran back. I presumed it was good."
Wasps head coach Shaun Edwards said the plan was always to take Cipriani off with half-an-hour to play.
"He came through unscathed, got some tackles in, helped create a try for Riki Flutey and put some nice goal kicks over - even though one was disallowed," said Edwards.
