London Irish second-row Bob Casey will lead Ireland A at this summer's Churchill Cup in North America.

Casey has five Ireland caps, winning the last eight years ago against Canada in June 2000.

He has also been included in the Ireland squad to face the Barbarians at Kingsholm but has missed out on the senior squad's tour.

Meanwhile scrum-half Paul Hodgson was chosen as Irish's player of the year at their annual awards ceremony.

Sailosi Tagicakibau won two awards as the players' player of the year and for scoring the try of the season, against Saracens in March.

Peter Hewat, who joined Irish from NSW Waratahs in the autumn, was chosen as the best newcomer.
