Scarlets flanker Gavin Thomas is expected to miss the rest of the season |
The Scarlets will be without Gavin Thomas for the remainder of the season because of a snapped Achilles tendon. The 31-year-old open-side flanker, who has won 22 Wales caps, suffered the injury in the EDF Energy Cup loss at Northampton on 1 November. Thomas is currently in plaster and a Scarlets spokesperson said: "It's not a nice thing to have happened. "It's Gavin's first major injury and we feel for him, as it's happened at such an exciting time for us." The Scarlets will not be looking to replace Thomas in their squad. The west Wales region has recently moved to their new stadium home at Parc Y Scarlets, quitting their famous Stradey Park ground. The region's club side, Llanelli RFC, christened the new stadium last Saturday with a 32-3 win over Cardiff in the Welsh Premiership. The Scarlets play their first game there on Friday, 28 November when they take on Munster in the Magners League.
