Garan Evans has questioned the Scarlets transfer policy |
Full-back Garan Evans says the Scarlets have gone backwards because they did not add enough quality to the squad last summer. Evans, 34, hit out after the 41-0 loss to Clermont which saw the Scarlets end their Heineken Cup group pointless.
"You have to keep developing the squad and once you stay still in the transfer market you go backwards," he said.
"Unfortunately that's happened to us.
We have to do a lot of soul-searching and find out why it has gone so wrong."
Evans said he could not remember any other result like Saturday's loss during his time at Stradey Park.
And while he points to the transfer market, he also raised questions over the team's form.

"It hasn't been a great season up until now," he said. "A couple of our performances have been shambolic recently and what went on, on Saturday evening summed it up.
"It was a poor performance, especially at Stradey.
It's hard to explain having played so well last year. We got through to the semi-final of Europe and played some good stuff.
"There were always some weaknesses, which in a way were quite obvious I suppose in that we needed to strengthen the squad in certain positions and in the summer, we didn't strengthen."
