Easterby will be out for at least two weeks |
Llanelli Scarlets captain Simon Easterby will miss the hectic festive Magners League fixture programme after having minor knee surgery. Easterby, 31, has opted to clean-out his knee after last week suffering a recurrence of the injury he picked up during the autumn internationals.
"There have been no complications," said Scarlets boss Phil Davies.
"He will recover over the next 10 to 14 days and we should have him back early in the New Year."
He added: ''It is something that could have gone on, we could have managed it and he could have played with it.
"But this is a big year for him and a big year for the Scarlets so we took the decision to get him in as soon as possible without too much drama.''
Easterby will definitely miss the Welsh derbies against the Dragons (22 December), Ospreys (26 December) and Blues (1 January).
The Scarlets then face Edinburgh in the league (5 January), before the penultimate Heineken Cup group match against Ulster on 13 January.
