Louw seem sunlikely to return to Stradey Park |
Llanelli Scarlets have omitted lock Hottie Louw and fly-half Gareth Bowen from their 38-man Heineken Cup squad. Springbok international Louw is on loan at Vodacom Blue Bulls in the Currie Cup and seems unlikely to return to Wales.
Bowen was the Scarlets' first-choice number 10 for much of last season, but he has been frozen out by the return of Stephen Jones from Clermont-Auvergne.
Youngsters Ceiron Thomas and Wales Under-19 star Rhys Priestland are the back-up fly-halves for the Scarlets.
Cardiff University student Priestland, 19, was a member of Wales's Grand Slam-winning Under-19 side last season.
Props Ian Jones and Hugh Gustafson are amongst the development players in the squad.
The Scarlets open their European campaign at London Irish on 20 October.
Toulouse and Ulster are also present in their highly challenging pool.
