Meyer sees benefit of weekend off

Heyneke Meyer
Meyer is using the international weekend to give his players a break

Leicester Tigers head coach Heyneke Meyer says his players will get a well-earned mental rest over the next week.

After a tough 30-20 win over Sale in the EDF Cup on Friday, Tigers next face Bath in the Premiership on 15 November.

Meyer told BBC Radio Leicester: "They're still going to go away and train hard.

"We'll probably then have a full squad with guys coming back from injury and internationals, so it's the right time to give them a mental break."

Leicester, who were beaten finalists in the EDF Energy Cup last year and champions in 2007, failed to progress from the group stages for the first time in three years.

Meyer said he was disappointed but was looking forward to concentrating on the Premiership and Heineken Cup.
