Utility back Hamilton has won two New Zealand caps
Leicester Tigers head coach Heyneke Meyer has confirmed New Zealand winger Scott Hamilton is joining the club on a two-year deal.
Meyer said he is looking forward to seeing the All Black international arrive at Welford Road in November.
"He'll be great for us, he's a quality player who can also play at full-back," he told BBC Radio Leicester.
"He is a great guy, is always professional and always gives everything for his team."
The 28-year-old will be reunited with his former Crusaders team-mate Aaron Mauger at Welford Road.
Hamilton has won three Super rugby titles with the Crusaders as well as the Ranfurly Shield (twice) and the National Provincial Championship.
And Canterbury assistant-coach John Haggart said Hamilton would be sorely missed.
"Scott has been such a reliable and consistent performer for Canterbury and the Crusaders over the years that it's inevitable he will leave a huge hole."
The Tigers open their Heineken Cup campaign this weekend with the visit of Ospreys to Welford Road.
You can hear full match commentary of Leicester Tigers v Ospreys on BBC Radio Leicester 104.9FM, DAB and online at bbc.co.uk/leicester from 1230 BST on Sunday.
