Leicester fly-half Andy Goode paid tribute to his side's defensive display after the thrilling one-point victory over Gloucester at Kingsholm. Tigers trailed 12-3 at half-time in Sunday's Premiership semi-final but won 26-25 with a last-gasp Goode drop-goal. Goode told BBC Radio Leicester: "We had a good talking-to and pulled it out of the bag in the second half. "They played some good stuff in the first half but we defended exceptionally well and stuck at it." Interview: Leicester assistant coach Richard Cockerill Wing Tom Varndell was equally delighted with his side's stunning second-half fightback. "Our discipline wasn't the best," Varndell said. "We gave away a lot of penalties but we never lost sight of them and came out all guns blazing and played a good tactical game in the second half. "We knew we were still in touch at half-time and we put in a good performance in the second-half. "It's been a tough couple of weeks and a tough couple of games but we've come through them both."
Varndell also paid tribute to match-winner Goode. "He knows how to do it in the right games," Varndell said. "His drop-goal was fantastic and his kicking in the second half was fantastic. He stepped up to the mark and was brilliant." Leicester will now meet Wasps, who beat Bath in the other semi-final, in the Premiership final at Twickenham on Saturday 31 May.
