Ayerza has been with Leicester since last summer |
Leicester prop Marcos Ayerza has appealed against the three-week ban imposed for striking an opponent. The Argentine international was found guilty of striking flanker Remy Martin during Leicester's quarter-final victory over Stade Francais on 1 April.
An independent appeal committee will meet on 18 April to hear the case.
Ayerza missed the EDF Energy Cup final against the Ospreys on Sunday and is set to miss the Heineken Cup semi-final against Scarlets on 21 April.
He had already been banned for eight days by the Tigers on 7 April after club officials reviewed the incident during the 21-20 victory at Welford Road.
"Marcos is very sorry to have let down the club and the supporters, and would like to apologise to Stade player Remy Martin in respect of the incident," said a statement.
