Key's Leeds go to Gloucester on Saturday |
Director of rugby Andy Key insists Leeds Carnegie will be an improved side for Saturday's trip to Gloucester. Leeds went down 32-16 to Bath at Headingley in their Premiership opener and Key knows his side need to learn some tough lessons quickly. Key told BBC Radio Leeds: "We have lessons to be learnt about being a top four side and what that's about. "But we will get ourselves back into the right shape this week and go to Gloucester in a more positive mood." Leeds failed to make the most of their domination at Headingley, especially in the first half, and ended up conceding four tries and scoring just one. Key explained: "We have to look after the ball much more and, like last season, we were not finishing off the opportunities we created. "They were just much more clinical than us at the vital times and we need to work on that. "I'm sure there are a lot of sides this weekends having a close look at themselves. "Maybe they had good pre-seasons and their game wasn't a refection of what pre-season was, and that's us. "This was not a reflection of the way things have gone over pre-season for us. "This is a harsh, harsh rude awaken for us on our own patch. "But it's only the first game of the season. There were plenty of positives and the new guys showed what they are about."
