Referee David Rose has apologised to Leeds Carnegie for wrongly disallowing a try in their 21-15 defeat at Premiership leaders Saracens.
The try, plus a successful conversion, would have helped Leeds seal their first league win of the season.
Director of rugby Andy Key told BBC Radio Leeds: "Credit to Rosey he has phoned us and admitted his mistake.
"That try would have put a different complexion on the game and it's very frustrating for us."
Sunday's result left Leeds bottom of the Premiership on three points.
Leeds were neck and neck with Saracens at 6-6 when their disputed try happened just before the break.
It looked like Hendre Fourie had touched down Leigh Hinton's kick but the referee ruled Saracens had got the ball down before the South African got to it.
Saracens went onto score the first try of the game on the stroke of half-time.
