Leeds Carnegie have re-signed lock Phil Murphy from Worcester Warriors on a two-year contract.

The 28-year-old originally came through the academy system at Headingley before moving to Sixways in 2004.

He said: "I am really excited about coming back home to Leeds Carnegie and rejoining the club.

"Having begun my senior career here, Leeds has always had a special place in my heart and now I want to help the club get back into the Premiership."

Before joining Worcester, Murphy played 60 games for Leeds, including in the top flight alongside his older brother Chris.

He joined Worcester after their promotion to the Premiership for the 2004/05 season and, in the four seasons that followed, made 83 appearances for the Warriors.

Leeds director of rugby Stuart Lancaster said: "Phil has shown that he has matured into an experienced Premiership rugby player during his time at Worcester.

"Importantly he is someone who knows our club and the culture we have here and I am sure as a Yorkshireman he will be relishing the chance to call Headingley Carnegie his home once again."
