Botha had completed two years of a three-year deal

Harlequins have released former Springboks hooker Gary Botha from his contract so he can return to South Africa with his family.

He will make his final appearance in Saturday's game against Bath.

Quins head coach John Kingston said: "I am very saddened to see Gary departing. He has been an integral part of the recent success of Quins."

Botha, 27, said: "I have enjoyed my time at Quins, and it is with a heavy heart that I will be leaving."

He added: "I would like to place on record my gratitude to Quins for agreeing to my situation and allowing an early release from my contract."

Botha had been at the club for two seasons after joining them following the 2007 World Cup.
