Gloucester's Peter Buxton eyes comeback this season

Peter Buxton
Buxton has played 21 times this term taking his overall club tally to 232

Injured flanker Peter Buxton hopes to be back in Gloucester colours before the end of the season.

The 32-year-old broke his right forearm in the closing stages of the LV= Cup semi-final victory against Newport Gwent Dragons and sat out the final.

But following successful surgery, flanker Buxton believes he could be in line for a return at the end of April.

"We're looking at six to eight weeks, so it's either Saracens away or Sale at home," he told BBC Gloucestershire.

"The boys are going well, but if there's an injury or whatever, fingers crossed I can get back before the end of the season."

Gloucester are on an 11-match winning run which has taken them to LV= Cup glory against Newcastle and propelled them up the Premiership table.

They lie third with games in hand on leaders Leicester and second-placed Saracens, who they travel to in the penultimate game of the regular season before playing the Sharks at home on Saturday, 7 May.

The play-off semi-finals are scheduled for the subsequent weekend, with the final set for Twickenham on Saturday, 28 May.
