Gloucester's strength and conditioning coach Mark Bitcon is to leave the club.

Bitcon, who had previously worked at Wasps as well as the Scottish Rugby Union, is to join rugby league club Wigan Warriors.

Barny Allen, who has worked with Bitcon and his predecessor Mike Anthony, will assume the role later this month.

Head Coach Bryan Redpath said: "Barny has his own ideas about how to help us drive the group forward and we'll give him the right support to achieve this."

"Bittaz [Mark Bitcon] has done a great job at Gloucester and we'll be sorry to lose him, but we can understand his reasons for wanting to go to Wigan and wish him all the best in his new role."
