Azam is considering returning home to France following an offer from Toulon |
Gloucester hooker Olivier Azam has revealed that French club Toulon have offered him a "very good" deal. The 34-year-old France international's contract is up at the end of the season and he could return to his home country for family reasons. "I have to decide where I want to bring up my unborn child. The offer from Toulon is a very good one", Azam said. "I am talking to Gloucester at the moment. I would like another two years. I must sit down and make a decision." The Kingsholm favourite admits the opportunity to link up with Philippe Saint-Andre, the man who brought him to the West Country, is tempting. | 606: DEBATE |
Saint-Andre recently announced his decision to leave Sale Sharks to take over the helm at struggling French Top 14 side Toulon next season. Azam skippered Gloucester for the first time on Saturday as they defeated fellow title contenders London Irish for their first victory in four matches. He insists silverware is an attainable target for the Guinness Premiership leaders and feels the side can maintain winning ways through togetherness, and he includes the Kingsholm faithful in that. "We've got to keep the faith as a club," he added. "We've got to believe we can win a trophy by the end of the year and we need everyone to believe that."
