Peter Buxton will play at Kingsholm until 2010 |
Gloucester forward Peter Buxton has signed a new two-year contract. Cherry and Whites head coach Dean Ryan said: "I have talked a lot about guys like Pete being the glue of our side, and that is exactly what he is.
"He has the trust and demands the respect of his team-mates, puts his body on the line in every single game."
The 29-year-old, who had to withdraw from England's summer tour of South Africa with a hand injury, will remain at Kingsholm until at least 2010.
Flanker Buxton has captained Premiership leaders Gloucester this season and Ryan added: "He is the benchmark of consistency we are looking for.
"Pete is a fantastic player, and he has shown his versatility and ability to take on extra responsibility by moving into the second row and also as captain."
