Brown was left out of England's Elite Player Squad this season |
England and Gloucester lock Alex Brown faces several weeks out after breaking his arm against Harlequins on Saturday. The 27-year-old, who made his Test debut against Australia in the summer, has had a metal plate inserted in his right forearm during surgery.
Brown is likely to be out of action for at least six weeks.
"It is incredibly bad luck for the club and for Alex that he has sustained this injury," said Gloucester head coach Dean Ryan.
"He will have our total support and backing as he begins his recovery.
"It is obviously a considerable blow, but we are fortunate to have plenty of options in that area and it will provide opportunities for other players within the squad."
Brown is the latest player to join a Gloucester injury list that currently features his fellow England internationals James Simpson-Daniel, Iain Balshaw and Mike Tindall.
