Lineen felt Glasgow lacked the quality of the French visitors

Glasgow Warriors coach Sean Lineen felt the referee hampered his side as they struggled to a 28-16 defeat by Toulouse in the Heineken Cup at Firhill.

"We struggled at the set pieces - scrum and line-out," said Lineen. "But I feel sorry for the crowd - the ref killed the game, the scrum especially.

"Something has to be done about that, because on paper, this was a hell of a game - but he just killed it.

"Once he gets a bee in his bonnet about a player, he just zones in."

First-half tries from Toulouse's Florian Fritz, Yannick Jauzion and Cedric Heymans added to David Skrela's two conversions and three penalties.

Ruaridh Jackson's three penalties for Glasgow failed to build on Federico Martin Aramburu's first-half try.

An unremarkable second half saw the Toulouse fail to grab a second-half touchdown to clinch a bonus point and Lineen felt his side were lacking the quality of the French visitors.

"We couldn't get any ball, and even though we showed how dangerous we were when we did get it, ultimately we had no set piece," said Lineen.

"Toulouse didn't play all that well, they were just happy with the win - but we didn't deserve to win the game.

"Europe is all about starting at set pieces and Toulouse looked so comfortable on the ball.

"At times, we defended well, but we just bounced off too many bodies.

"We just haven't learned our lessons, and you can't make mistakes against a team like Toulouse."
