The Warriors' chief concern was fans' safety travelling to the match
Glasgow Warriors have postponed their Magners League home match against Treviso on Friday evening because of the wintry weather. The pitch at Firhill is playable but the club is concerned for the safety of its fans travelling to the match and Treviso's need to set off from Italy. Warriors chief executive Kenny Baillie said: "It is with regret that we have had to call the match off. "There is no guarantee of the weather improving between now and Friday." Baillie praised the efforts of the groundstaff, saying the condition of the pitch was improving all the time thanks to their efforts and the undersoil heating, but said that the club's main priority was spectator safety. Sean Lineen, the Warriors' head coach, added: "I know that everything was done to try and have the game go ahead but, unfortunately, when everything was taken into consideration, common sense prevailed. "It's now all systems go for our Heineken Cup match next week against Toulouse." No new date has yet been set by the Magners League for the match against the Italians.
