Glasgow face the Ospreys in their semi-final at Liberty Stadium |
Glasgow Warriors must travel to Wales on Friday for their Magners League play-off semi-final after Edinburgh narrowly missed out on qualifying. Edinburgh needed a bonus point victory away to long-time leaders Leinster, but they had a 28-20 lead turned into a 37-28 defeat in the closing stages. A win could have been enough for Edinburgh as fourth-placed Munster were losing 13-12 to Cardiff Blues. But Leinster's win put them top and means Glasgow face second-top Ospreys. Warriors' 37-32 win over Scarlets on Friday had given them the chance of securing a home tie should the Irish side have lost. However, Sean Lineen's side have finished the season third in the table and face an away tie against the Ospreys, who thrashed the Dragons 42-10 on the same night. The Scots kick-off at Liberty Stadium at 1905 BST, with the match being broadcast live on BBC Wales. Despite Sunday's defeat, Munster edged out the Blues to qualify for an away tie against Irish rivals Leinster, with the two sides meeting in Dublin on Saturday. Edinburgh had been close to the top of the table for much of the season, but a late run of poor form by Rob Moffat's side means they finish in sixth place behind Cardiff.
