Glasgow's weekend try-scorers Thom Evans and Johnnie Beattie are hoping the 21-5 win in Cardiff can inspire another good showing against Biarritz.
The Heineken Cup campaign opens with the French at Firhill and Glasgow are positive about reaching the knockout phase for the first time since 1998.
"We've really tightened up our defence this season," Beattie told BBC Sport.
"And the win in Cardiff tees up the Biarritz game nicely. There's a good confident feeling at the club."
Sean Lineen's side sit seventh in the Magners League, with three wins from their opening five matches.
The convincing victory over the Blues came after two defeats and the Scots have been infuriatingly inconsistent in recent seasons.
"I've been involved with the boys for six years and that's the first time I've won down there, so it shows we're going in the right direction," added number eight Beattie.
"We've got to be aiming for a top four place in the Magners League and getting involved in the new play-offs."
Winger Evans burst onto the international scene last year but had his preparations for this season interrupted by injury.
However, the 24-year-old showed signs of his previous blistering form when scoring in Cardiff at the weekend.
"We've got to go out there and back up our performance in Cardiff," he said, looking ahead to the challenge of Biarritz.
"It was good to get a try on the board. I haven't played too well this season, so it's given me a lot of confidence going into this next game.

Beattie eager for more Scotland caps
"I know Sean has talked a lot about consistency and it really is a big issue for us. We've let ourselves down in the past, with good victories one week and losing out to teams we should beat the following week.
"But I feel we've got a really good squad this year, with a lot of young guys coming through and pushing for places."
Glasgow edged to a 9-6 win over Biarritz on Heineken Cup duty in 2007 and lost 21-14 in the return tie, having led for 75 minutes.
"We beat them before at Firhill and we narrowly lost in the away tie, so we know how they play," said Beattie. "Now we just need to do the work on the pitch."
Beattie faces stiff competition in an area of strength for Scotland but will have impressed national coach Andy Robinson with his start to the campaign.
"This year I've been able to string together some really good performances and I'm happy with the way things are going personally," he continued.
"I got my first cap in 2006 and there have been three since, so it's been drips and drabs. I need to nail down my performances for Glasgow and hopefully move on to more international honours."
A win on Saturday would set Glasgow up for a tilt at securing one of the top two places in Pool 2 and Evans thinks they have the personnel to do just that.
"A lot of people are saying we've got the easiest group but I don't see it like that," he said. "Gloucester and the Dragons are playing really well at the moment and each game is going to be really tough.
"However, I firmly believe we can win every game in the pool and we can make a start on that against Biarritz."
