Piossek has World Cup experience with Argentina |
Glasgow have agreed a deal to sign Argentina's all-time record try-scorer Jose Maria Nunez Piossek. The 31-year-old, who can operate on the wings or at centre, is waiting to obtain a visa and must pass a medical. "He is a pretty important signing in terms of the experience he'll bring and he's also very good value for money," said Glasgow head coach Sean Lineen. Piossek, who will arrive from Huirapuca in his homeland, boasts a record of 30 tries from 30 Tests. "He's a tough player looking for rugby and he will bring a bit of balance because we need to manage the game time of our Scotland internationals," added Lineen. Piossek, who has had spells at Bristol and French clubs Clermont Auvergne, Castres and Bayonne, played in the Pumas 21-15 victory over Scotland in June. He missed last year's World Cup with a knee injury but featured in the 2003 event. A close friend and international colleague of Glasgow full-back Bernardo Stortoni, Piossek made his Argentina debut in 2001 against Uruguay.
