Moffat was pleased to get the win after two recent Heineken Cup defeats
Coach Rob Moffat was pleased with the result but not aspects of his Edinburgh team's display in their 21-16 win over Ulster in the rain at Murrayfield. "It wasn't the prettiest game of rugby but we got a win against an Ulster side that is pretty confident and has a strong pack," he told BBC Scotland. "You'd have thought the kind of night it was would have suited them a bit. "We showed control at times but I was frustrated because our discipline let us down, giving away silly penalties." Moffat added: "All it does is let them control the pace of the game. "Sometimes we get a bit frustrated because there is a type of rugby we want to play but sometimes for 10-15 minutes we've just got to play a bit of territory and put Ulster under pressure, which we did at times." | I don't think we'll have that many players playing against New Zealand Rob Moffat on his Edinburgh players' chances of featuring in the autumn Test |
Edinburgh's points total was amassed by Fraser McKenzie and Netani Talei tries, the boot of Chris Paterson and a delightful drop goal by David Blair as full-time approached. The result lifted Edinburgh into sixth place in the Magners League table, with three wins and as many defeats in their six matches. Looking ahead to Scotland's autumn Tests against the All Blacks, South Africa and Samoa next month, Moffat conceded that the capital side is unlikely to provide too many members of coach Andy Robinson's starting line-up. "I don't think we'll have that many players playing against New Zealand," he said. "Andy will have a fair idea of his team by now. I would have thought Allan Jacobsen, Ross Ford, Mike Blair (will play). "Chris Paterson could be in the squad and Scott MacLeod might be in with a shout. "If they keep playing well for us, they will put themselves in the shop window."
