Rennie has undergone a second knee operation inside a year

Edinburgh flanker Ross Rennie has been ruled out for the rest of the season after undergoing exploratory knee surgery in London on Friday.

The 22-year old only returned to action in October after seven months out following a first knee operation.

"This is a big blow for Ross," said Edinburgh captain Mike Blair. "He was a key guy for us last season."

Blair added: "I'm sure he can come back as good, if not even better, than he was last season."
