Godman said he was enjoying his rugby with Edinburgh |
Edinburgh stand-off Phil Godman has signed a new contract to keep him at the club until 2010. The 25-year-old Scotland international has been in superb form in the Magners League for Edinburgh this season. "It's been a good season and I've enjoyed every minute of it. There's a special team spirit at Edinburgh that's helped the team succeed," he said. "I think it's a really exciting place to be because we're planning to build on this season's results." Godman is vying with David Blair and Chirs Paterson for the number 10 shirt and he said it was good to have a big squad. "The competition for places keeps me on my toes and it would be strange to not have someone breathing down your neck," said Godman. | Phil has challenged himself over the past three months and has played really well Edinburgh head coach Andy Robinson |
The Scotland international said Edinburgh head coach Andy Robinson, assistant coach Rob Moffat and Gregor Townsend had helped him improve as a player. Robinson said he was delighted at the progress Godman had made at the club. "The way we have been developing our running game is partly due to the great skills that Phil has," he said. | MY SPORT: DEBATE |
"He had a couple of setbacks - not being involved in the World Cup last year and finding himself out of the Edinburgh team. "He had to pick himself up and decide what he really wanted to do. He has challenged himself over the past three or four months and he has played really well."
