Nick de Luca has spent a season with Border Reivers |
Edinburgh have raided Border Reivers to sign Scotland A internationals Ryan Grant and Nick de Luca for next season. Prop Grant, 21, and 23-year-old De Luca, who plays at centre and on the wing, have agreed two-year contracts.
It will be Grant's first move into full-time senior rugby, having been an apprentice with Reivers while serving in the Royal Signals.
De Luca served his apprenticeship with Edinburgh before moving south for the current season.
But, with Reivers due to be disbanded next season unless a rescue package can be formed, he is delighted that Edinburgh made an approach.
"I'm excited to be coming back to Edinburgh and working with the guys I used to work with," he said.

"There are also a lot of new players coming in and so I'm looking forward to being part of a young squad and hopefully we'll achieve big things over the next couple of years."
Edinburgh backs coach Rob Moffat, who formerly coached De Luca as part of the Scotland sevens squad, said: "Nick is an exciting prospect and I'm expecting him to be very much part of the squad and pushing hard to get in the mix when it comes to selection.
"I think his time at the Borders has been good for his development as his rugby is maturing and, although he is still a young, developing player, he is capable of playing in Europe and the Magners League."
The latest additions bring Edinburgh's new signings to 12 for next season, but Grant was looking forward to playing alongside some of the established squad.
"It is a positive move for me to be able to play alongside some big names at Edinburgh, such as Allister Hogg, and learn from Allan Jacobsen, so I am really looking forward to next season," he said.
The former Under-21 inernational made his Scotland A debut against Italy A at McDiarmid Park in February.
Edinburgh head coach Lynn Howells added: "I watched Ryan against Italy A and he had a fine game.
"He is a big, powerful player and one of the up-and-coming prospects in Scottish rugby, so we've identified him as one for the future."
