Reivers' Cross stays in capital
Geoff Cross in training with Edinburgh
Geoff Cross has made his move permanent
Edinburgh have signed Border Reivers prop Geoff Cross on a permanent basis for next season following the success of his loan move.

Cross, who has been with Edinburgh since December, will maintain his full-time status following news that the Reivers will be disbanded.

The 24-year-old said: "I am delighted to have the opportunity to realise my potential as a player with Edinburgh."

Edinburgh have also re-signed prop Craig Smith and hooker Andrew Kelly.

Smith, capped 18 times by Scotland, has signed a two-year contract, while Scotland A international Kelly and Cross have agreed one-year deals.

the 28-year-old Smith said: "I think it's important having continuity going into the World Cup year.

"I've been doing a lot of hard work with the physios recently and, because Edinburgh have backed me after a serious injury, I felt it was important to stay and show loyalty.

"It's also a good club with great guys and a lot of exciting talent, which is another reason I was keen to stay."

The 24-year-old Kelly added: "My first season was a World Cup year and I know how challenging a time that can be.

"So I'm looking forward to working hard to get game time with Edinburgh."
