Yapp has slipped down the Wales pecking order |
Cardiff Blues and Wales loose-head prop John Yapp expects to take a full part in pre-season training, having been out with a cruciate knee ligament injury. The 24-year-old suffered the sickening injury on New Year's Day, but his recovery has been smooth.
"They say the injury requires at least six months to get over, so I knew I'd miss the World Cup," he told the Echo.
"You have to accept setbacks. I've just started doing a bit of running, and I can't tell you how good it feels."
 | I'm looking forward to a bit of responsibility that will come with being around when the lads go off to the World Cup |
Yapp played in all five games of the victorious 2005 Grand Slam campaign, but struggled after that to cement his place in the Wales squad.
His last appearance for Wales was in the 27-25 loss to Argentina in June 2006, and he will need to impress with the Blues to climb above Gethin Jenkins, Duncan Jones and Iestyn Thomas in the national pecking order.
"I just want to get back with the Blues and I'm looking forward to a bit of responsibility that will come with being around when the lads go off to the World Cup," said the Llantwit Major man.
"The idea of getting a really good run in the side appeals, and I'll take whatever else may come along as a bonus."
