England U20 skipper Luke is the son of former Bristol captain Derek Eves |
Bristol centre Luke Eves will lead England in Friday night's Six Nations Under-20 clash against France. Eves, 19, is comfortably the most experienced player in the squad after playing every minute of last year's Six Nations U20 Grand Slam campaign. "The experience Luke gained with us last season and in the first team with his club has been hugely beneficial to him," said coach Mark Mapletoft. "I'm very grateful that Paul Hull has released him to play for us." "It's a big responsibility to captain your country at any level but I hope he enjoys it," said Mapletoft. "If he plays with the same intensity he's trained with this week, I'm sure he will." Eves made his full Guinness Premiership debut for Bristol against Leicester Tigers at Welford Road last year. And he scored two tries against Saracens on the last day of the 2007/8 season.
