Hill took over as head coach at the Memorial Ground in 2003 |
Richard Hill admits his future as Bristol head coach hangs in the balance after he decided not to travel with the team for Friday's game against Sale. Assistant coach Paul Hull has led training this week and will take charge of the struggling side at Edgeley Park. "We need to give ourselves the best chance and this might help us to turn things round," Hill told BBC Sport. "We'll review the situation after the game. If things go well, perhaps we will continue with this arrangement." Bristol's 35-3 home defeat by Newcastle last Friday left them nine points adrift of Worcester at the bottom of the Guinness Premiership. The Falcons had not won away in their previous 12 matches and Hill admits he has been forced to take radical action by putting Hull in charge this week. | 606: DEBATE |
"We needed to try something different," he said. "Paul is a very experienced coach and this might freshen things up." Hill, who has been head coach at the club since 2003, has been linked with a summer move to French club Montauban. Bristol's general manager, Corin Palmer, and experienced centre Kevin Maggs have both left the club in recent weeks.
