Bristol pay out over ground deal

David White
White says the compensation agreement is fair

Bristol chief executive David White has confirmed the club will have to pay compensation to Newport after pulling out of a proposed groundshare.

Delays to the redevelopment of the Memorial Stadium have seen a temporary move to Rodney Parade put on hold for 12 months.

"There is a compensation element that we've got to pay Newport," said White.

"It was agreed in the contract and it's fair. It's disappointing but hopefully we can go there in 12 months."

White was not prepared to disclose how much the club will have to pay.
