Bath number eight Zak Feaunati is hoping to retire from rugby on a high, after deciding to pursue a career in teaching when the season ends.

The popular Samoan, 34, is gunning for success in the European Challenge Cup and the Premiership after failing to win a title in five years at the Rec.

Feaunati told BBC Points West: "I will do anything in my power to get hold of those two trophies.

"It's something the boys deserve and the whole of Bath really."

Feaunati will take up the position of head of rugby at Bishop Vesey's Grammar School in Sutton Coldfield on 2 June, just two days after the Premiership final at Twickenham, but he is expecting to miss life in Somerset.

"Just the morale and the banter with the boys here, we're a close-knit team and the boys work hard for each other," said Feaunati. "The town's amazing and when the boys get it right on a Saturday afternoon, you can't describe the buzz in the town."

He has been planning a move to teaching for some time.

"It's definitely been on my mind for a few years now. It's something I've always wanted to do, coaching - especially in schools, and bring what I've learned from the game to the youngsters at school.

"But I've got to get used to people calling me 'Mister Feaunati' and 'Sir' - I'm getting a lot of stick from the boys already: instead of calling me Zak, it's all 'Sir' and 'Mister'."
