Bath head coach Steve Meehan says that young centre Tom Cheeseman could have forced his way into the reckoning for Saturday's match at home to Sale.

The 22-year-old deputised for Alex Crockett in the 23-20 win at Worcester and scored three tries in the process.

"He's really put himself in the frame. I thought he played reasonably well and was on the spot at the right moment," Meehan told BBC Radio Bristol.

"He took his chances well, and finished all the tries well," he added.

Saturday's victory left Bath second in the Guinness Premiership, three points behind Gloucester and Meehan says it was a performances that shows his team are heading in the right direction.

"All we want to do is to make sure that we make sure that we maintain a positive expression in the games we play in," he said.

"We still blew some opportunities in the 22 but we're getting better."
