Bath have announced that Samoan centre Eliota Fuimaono-Sapolu has signed a two-year contract extension to stay at The Rec until 2010. "Zak Feaunati is one of the reasons that I decided to stay," said the 26-year-old. "I call him the Samoan Sultan, so I consulted with him first. "Joe Maddock recently said that we have not brought back much silverware in recent times. "For me, like the other members of the team, that is a massive goal." | We want to see him busting some opposition, rather than dancing round them |
Head coach Steve Meehan paid tribute to Fuimaono-Sapolu's skill. "He is quite an aggressive, attacking player, he has tremendous footwork, where he can beat a member of the defensive line and he is quite a powerful guy so, when it's necessary, we want to see him busting some opposition, rather than dancing round them. "He is a skilful player and he has got plenty of experience and he has been at the club for a while now, so he can take more of a leadership role, and I would expect to see that from him for the next couple of seasons." Whilst Fuimaono-Sapolu will be remaining at The Rec, Lorne Ward has already departed for Toulon, Nick Walshe will be heading to Bedfordshire Blues and Martin Purdy is going to North Harbour in New Zealand at the end of the season.
