Jerry Flannery limps off at the end of Munster's game against Ulster

Jerry Flannery looks likely to miss the start of the Six Nations Championship after being ruled out for up to six weeks with a torn calf muscle.

A scan revealed the extent of the injury which he sustained after coming on as a second half substitute for Munster against Ulster last week.

The hooker had just returned to action after a calf injury to his other leg.

Flannery will miss rounds five and six of the Heineken Cup, plus the Six Nations games against Italy and France.

Meanwhile Flannery's Ireland team-mate Cian Healy has signed a new deal which will seem him continue to play in Ireland for another two seasons up to 2013.
