Munster's Ronan O'Gara signs new Ireland contract

Record points corer Ronan O'Gara has signed a two-year contract extension which will see him playing in Ireland up to 2013.

The Irish RFU announced on Thursday night that the Munster fly-half had committed to a new deal.

O'Gara's decision follows that of provincial team-mate Donncha O'Callaghan who also recently pledged his future to Munster and Ireland.

"I believe there is much more that I want to and can achieve," said O'Gara.

O'Gara's career has seen him become the most-capped player for Ireland and only the third player in Irish Rugby history to reach 100 caps.

He has won five Triple Crowns, one RBS Six Nations Championship and a Grand Slam in 2009, as well as two Heineken Cups with Munster.

He has also been selected for three British and Irish Lions tours.

O'Gara was pipped by Leinster's Jonny Sexton for a starting place against New Zealand on Saturday, a decision which coach Declan Kidney said had been extremely difficult.
