Cardiff Blues followed up last week's win over Ulster in Wales by beating the Irish province by nine points at Ravenhill on Saturday night.
Tries by Casey Laulala and Xavier Rush helped the Blues to a 23-9 half-time lead but a 51st-minute Stephen Ferris try reduced Ulster's deficit to 23-17.
Dafydd Hewitt's try made the win safe while Leigh Halfpenny kicked 14 points and Ceri Sweeney four for the visitors.
Niall O'Connor kicked four penalties and Ian Humphreys a conversion.
Ulster suffered a setback before the game when Jamie Smith was ruled out with an injury and Timoci Nagusa came into the starting XV, Simon Danielli moving to full-back.
The home side started the game well and were held up just short of the line before O'Connor made it 3-0 with a well-struck penalty.
Laulala intercepted an attempted Ulster pass to race clear and score under the posts in the 10th minute and Sweeney converted to move Cardiff ahead.
Two Halfpenny penalties extended the advantage but O'Connor replied with his second penalty for Ulster.
Ulster-bound Cardiff number eight Rush ran through the home defence for his side's second try in the 34th minute, after being fed by Laulala.
Sweeney converted and O'Connor and Halfpenny traded penalties before half-time.
O'Connor was again on-target with a penalty attempt after the break and Ulster looked to be back in the game when Ferris barged through three Blues tackles to score in the corner after accepting a pass from Rory Best.
O'Connor missed the conversion but Halfpenny gave Cardiff some breathing space with a penalty, but then missed with another effort soon after.
Hewitt took advantage of some poor Ulster defence to touch down for the Blues' third try after a period of sustained pressure.
Halfpenny's conversion gave his side a comfortable 16-point lead and Chris Henry's late try, converted by replacement fly-half Ian Humphreys proved a mere consolation.
The win sees the Blues move eight points clear of the Scarlets in the race for a Heineken Cup place and maintains their hopes of making the Magners League play-offs.
Ulster are languishing in eighth position, just four points ahead of fellow Irish province Connacht.
Cardiff Blues prop Gethin Jenkins: "It was a great win for us, the boys really put the effort in.
"We knew we had to come out here and put a good performance in to get our European spot, it's a step closer and I'm really chuffed with the win.
"A few early tries and some good defence throughout the game really helped us."
