Andrew Trimble of Ulster finds his run halted against Stade Francais
Stade Francais gained instant revenge for their Heineken Cup defeat in Belfast by powering to a convincing Pool Four win at the Stade Jean Bouin.
Hooker Dimitri Szarzewski's early try and four penalties from Lionel Beauxis had the French side in command with a half-time lead of 19-9.
Stade drove over from a line-out for Benjamin Kayser to get the second try.
Andrew Trimble broke down the right for Ulster's try which was converted by Ian Humphreys who landed three penalties.
The results means Ulster's best hope is probably to win their last two matches to finish runners-up in the pool and qualify for the European Challenge Cup.
Ulster led briefly in the early stages after Humphreys kicked a penalty but Beauxis, who kicked seven from seven attempts, soon levelled matters.
The hosts went in front for the first time when a fine forward effort was finished off by Szarzewski and Beauxis converted.
Humphreys missed a decent penalty chance but quickly made amends with his second three-pointer.
Ulster indiscipline gave fly-half Beauxis the opportunity to open a 10-point lead with two penalties.
Another infringement allowed Beauxis to kick his fourth penalty but Humphreys narrowed the deficit to 19-9 before the interval.
Beauxis kicked his fifth penalty to extend the advantage to 13.
Stade got their second try when Beauxix kicked a penalty into the corner and, from the line-out, the forward drive was finished off by replacement Kayser.
Ulster's faint hopes were boosted when Trimble burst onto Humphreys' pass and powered around Ollie Phillips.
