Paddy Wallace has had a couple of stitches inserted in his right eyelid after retiring hurt during Sunday's Six Nations win over Italy in Rome.

The Ireland and Ulster player had to come off the field to receive treatment during the first half but did not return, with Gordon D'Arcy coming on.

Wallace cannot see out of his right eye, which is badly swollen.

He had 16 stitches inserted in his left eye last week after suffering another facial injury in the win over France.

Wallace must now be rated doubtful for Ireland's next Six Nations game against England at Croke Park on Saturday 28 February.
