Lions wing Shane Horgan starts for Ireland A

The duo along with hooker Frankie Sheahan are included in a strong side in order to gain match fitness.

Uncapped players include Cian Healy and Ryan Caldwell with Leicester wing John Murphy also getting his first call-up.

Connacht fly-half Andy Dunne start at fly-half with Ulster's Niall O'Connor as his understudy on the bench.

Dunne is joined at half-back by Ulster's Isaac Boss who has seen a big dip in form since his return from the World Cup.

O'Connor is joined by Ulster colleague David Pollock and Declan Fitzpatrick as a replacement.

Quinlan is joined in a very strong back-row with Stephen Keogh and Shane Jennings who sipper the Ireland A side in the Churchill Cup last season.

Gavin Duffy, who was a member of Ireland's World Cup squad, is at full-back with Luke Fitzgerald being tried in the midfield alongside Lions wing Horgan.

Horgan has been struggling with a knee injury and Ireland head coach Eddie O'Sullivan has opted to give him a run-out for the second string to prove his fitness.

"The A team game gave us the opportunity to give experience to some players at this level and also in particular positions," said O'Sullivan.

"For example Luke Fitzgerald starts in the centre while we can take a look at Cian Healy and Ryan Caldwell.

"The game also allowed us to give other more experienced players who may not have been starting for the provinces or who were returning from injury, such as Horgan, Trevor Hogan and Quinlan."
