I was a spectator again as Ireland clinched the Triple Crown with a hard-fought victory against Scotland at Murrayfield.
Geordan Murphy scored a try for Leicester away to Gloucester |
I was kept on as 23rd man as cover in case Denis Hickie's back trouble flared up again.
As things turned out, he was fine and fully deserved his man-of-the-match award.
I was joking with him during training on Thursday that I would give him a dig in the back but I really was delighted that he did such a good job.
It has been a strange time for me. After the game I was straight off to join up with my club Leicester for their game at Gloucester.
That meant a flight to Bristol and car journey to Cheltenham where we were staying before the match.
I was on the bench and came on for the last 20 minutes. Despite scoring a try we lost 28-24.
Anyway, back to Ireland who now have the same points as France and England in the Six Nations.
Brian O'Discoll and Ireland celebrated another Triple Crown |
Ireland showed good charatcer in battling back from two scores down against Scotland.
The celebrations were a bit muted at the end and I think that was because they were disappointed at the performance. It would have been nicer to have scored more points.

Ronan O'Gara is fine after his late choking scare. It is difficult to prove exactly what happened without any video coverage.
As for the championship overall, I had a sneaky feeling England would came back and beat the French after being written off by so many.
Still, I feel France will still fancy themselves for the championship. I would imagine they are favourites as they are just ahead of us on points difference and will be at home to Scotland in their last game.
Ireland face a tough one away to Italy who have already beaten Scotland and Wales.
I am not holding out much hope of travelling in the squad of 22 although I am fit and raring to go.
I am feeling fresh and really want to be playing regular rugby.
