"In the first half we played some fantastic rugby into the wind and driving rain," said O'Sullivan.

"We said at half-time we were not going to let them back into the game. By and large we pinned them back and they were not going anywhere.

"Tactically I think we got it right again and it has been a few weeks' good work for us."

However, O'Sullivan made it clear it would be a different Ireland line-up for the final autumn fixture against the Pacific Islands.

"I do want to make changes, perhaps bringing in some guys who did well in the 'A' game.

"But it is best to let the dust settle before making any decisions.

"I am pretty happy with this result which was achieved in horrible conditions.

"It was a different performance to last week.

"I thought we were outstanding, we held onto the ball and did not give them possession to play with. We were rewarded with two excellent tries."
