Simon Best was replaced by Justin Fitzpatrick on Friday night |
Simon Best will miss Ulster's crucial final Celtic League game and Ireland's summer tour after suffering a broken ankle in Friday's draw at Llanelli. Prop Best was stretchered off after 30 minutes of Ulster's 12-12 draw against the Scarlets at Stradey Park.
Best will miss next weekend's game against the Ospreys and Ireland's summer tour of New Zealand and Australia after fracturing a fibula.
He will visit an orthopaedic specialist on Sunday to have the injury examined.
If an operation is required, he will undergo surgery on Wednesday.
Ulster coach Mark McCall said: "This is a major blow to us and to Simon, particularly with the Ireland tour coming up."
"He has had a wonderful season and has led from the front on the field, as well as being inspirational off the field."
Stephen Ferris sustained a twisted ankle and will undergo a scan on Monday to determine the extent of the damage.
