Ulster overturned a 10-point deficit against Edinburgh Gunners to win 30-23 in Friday's Celtic League clash at Ravenhill in Belfast. A try by full-back Francisco Leonelli and the kicking of Chris Paterson saw Edinburgh lead by 13-3.
Second-half tries from Tommy Bowe and Andrew Trimble edged Ulster ahead.
Paterson also scored three penalties and a drop but David Humphreys landed six penalties to lift the home side to the top of the table.
A crisp drop goal and a penalty from Chris Paterson had Edinburgh 6-0 after 12 minutes.
Ulster hit back on 20 minutes when Kieran Campbell broke out from his 22 and cut his way through Gunners' ranks. The resulting penalty was slotted by Humphreys.
Edinburgh hit back, running a penalty out of their own 22, and Leonelli hacking on to score with Paterson's conversion making it 13-3.
An injury-time Humphreys penalty narrowed it to 13-6 at the interval.
Five minutes after the restart, Ulster winger Bowe intercepted a pass just outside his 22 and ran the length of the field to score. Humphreys' conversion drew the sides level.
Paterson's second penalty put the Gunners back in front but Ulster came again and Trimble smashed over after a flat pass from Humphreys.
The Ulster winger's 50th-minute try went unconverted but Humphreys made amends five minutes later with his third penalty to give Ulster a 21-16 lead.
The lead changed hands again, two minutes before the hour, when Rob Dewey scored under the posts. Paterson converted but Edinburgh's 23-21 lead was cancelled out by Humphreys' fourth penalty, giving the home side a one-point lead.
The gap was stretched to seven by two Humphreys penalties.
