 | CELTIC LEAGUE Munster (3) 13 Try: Sheahan Cons: O'Gara Pens: O'Gara (2)
Ospreys (6) 9 Pens: Henson (3) |
Frankie Sheahan's late pushover try saw Munster edge past 14-man Ospreys and join the Welsh visitors at the top of the Celtic League table. Ospreys were forced to play the final 50 minutes without Ryan Jones after he was red-carded for rucking over the top of Donncha O'Callaghan's head.
A Ronan O'Gara penalty gave Munster the lead before Gavin Henson kicked the first of three conversions for Ospreys.
But Sheahan's late try and a further five points from O'Gara sealed it.
O'Gara struck with a penalty in the 10th minute but just two minutes later 22-year-old Henson drilled over a neat reply from the left wing to chalk up his 100th league point of the campaign.
Henson was wayward with his second attempt after Alan Quinlan had infringed, but ensured Ospreys led at the break when clipping over in the 32nd minute.
Henson pushed the Welsh further in front with a low, drilled penalty six minutes after the restart, but the Munster pack began to dominate.
O'Gara kicked a straight-on effort over in the 50th minute to leave it poised at 9-6.
But, despite coming up short on a previous Tom Bowman take-and-drive, Munster made it over the Ospreys' line in the 69th minute as Sheahan was shunted over for a converted try which confirmed their eighth straight success.
