Kempson missed out on the World Cup through injury

Ulster prop Robbie Kempson faces a hearing before an IRFU disciplinary panel on Wednesday to answer a charge that he headbutted a Borders player in Friday's Celtic League match.

Borders forwarded video footage of the alleged incident in Friday's game at Ravenhill which has led to the prop's citing.

The video evidence to be submitted by the Borders was captured by a spectator with a handheld camera.

Ulster Chief Executive Michael Reid confirmed that they had received a copy of the video.

''It arrived on Tuesday monring and have viewed the alleged incident. We will happily to procede with our defence of the player.''

Kempson came on as a second half replacement in what was his first appearance since recovering from an elbow injury which forced him to miss the World Cup.

BBC Northern Ireland had cameras at Friday's match but those pictures did not catch the alleged incident.

Kempson is a key player for Ulster and any ban would be a major blow with the Heineken Cup campaign starting with Sunday's away game against the Dragons.

If he is found guilty of the offence, he could be banned for a month or more which could rule him out of several Heineken Cup games.

Despite doubts over the player's availability, Ulster coach Alan Solomons selected Kempson to start against Gwent Dragons.
